SUMMARY:Joint Climate-Adapt4EOSC and FAIR2Adapt workshop on climate data innovation
DESCRIPTION:Join us in Santander on 3 June 2025 for a joint workshop on climate data innovation! \n📅 Held in the framework of the EGI2025 Conference\, this event is hosted by FAIR2Adapt and Climate-Adapt4EOSC — both advancing cutting-edge\, data-driven solutions for climate change adaptation across Europe. \n🧭 The workshop will explore:\n🔹 Major research and policy challenges for climate adaptation\n🔹 EOSC-based tools and open technologies\n🔹 4 real-world case studies showcasing data integration for climate resilience\n🔹 Key barriers to interoperability — semantic\, technical\, legal and organisational \n📝 Register by 23 May for on-site attendance\, or by noon on 3 June to join online : EGI2025 (2-6 juin 2025): Registration · EGI (Indico) \n \nThe purpose of this jointly-organised Climate-Adapt4EOSC and FAIR2Adapt workshop is to engage and exchange information with projects and organisations involved in the development and deployment of climate change adaptation-related\, data-driven solutions. The workshop will present a range of case studies and use them as prisms to analyse technical and organisational solutions and approaches. The workshop aims to identify approaches that will make it easier to develop\, deploy and maintain data-driven solutions to support climate change adaptation. \nThe workshop starts with a brief analysis of current climate change adaptation-related research and development activities and the possible roles research data and services could play. The relevance of data-driven solutions will be illustrated by overview presentations of the two projects (FAIR2Adapt and Climate-Adapt4EOSC) that cover the use cases\, primary challenges the projects will address and the tools and approaches the projects have chosen to address them. \nThe approaches will be further elaborated and tested by four use case presentations: two of them presenting the approaches in more detail\, and two presentations from projects representing the broader environmental application domain. The goal is to identify areas of common interest\, synergies and new opportunities across the projects’ extended stakeholder networks. \nThe final part of the workshop will discuss the applicability of specific technologies and analytical or operational frameworks in any activity aimed at realising the opportunities. The technologies analysed will include FAIR Digital Objects\, Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework\, while the relevant frameworks will include the Legal-Organisational-Technical-Semantic (LOTS) categorisation of challenges and solutions as well as IT Service Management approach used by the EOSC Nodes. \nThe workshop discussions will contribute to the deliverables of both of the organising projects and will provide valuable input to discussions on forums such as European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2025)\, EOSC Project Coordination event and activities of the EOSC Opportunity Area 2 expert group. The organisers of the workshop will also be present throughout the EGI conference at the joint booth of the two projects. \n \n📌You’ll also find us at our joint exhibition booth during the EGI Conference\, where you will have the opportunity to meet the speakers :\nJesse DeMaria-Kinney (The Adaptation Research Alliance)\nSimon Hodson and Matti Heikkurinen (CODATA)\nEsteban Gonzalez Guardia (FAIR2Adapt-EOSC.eu) \nThe results will contribute to both projects’ deliverables and inform major policy and science events such as ECCA 2025 and the EOSC Opportunity Area 2 expert group. \nTo learn more about the workshop and view the full agenda : https://go.egi.eu/J8kwh \n👉 Find more about EGI on their website: https://lnkd.in/dxk3JZ4t

SUMMARY:Fair Digital Objects Conference
DESCRIPTION:FAIR Digital Objects (FDO) are autonomous information units that virtually bind all information in a machine-actionable way that is required to make data FAIR\, including various kinds of metadata and globally unique and resolvable persistent identifiers (PIDs). \nFDOs provide a conceptual and implementation framework to develop scalable cross-disciplinary capabilities\, deal with increasing data volumes and their inherent complexity\, build tools that help increase trust in data\, create mechanisms to efficiently operate in the domain of scientific assertions\, and promote data interoperability. In addition\, FDOs play a foundational role in implementing widely accepted trust frameworks\, which are characterised by the STAP principles (Sovereignty\, Transparency\, Accountability\, Persistence). These principles underpin large-scale data exploration supported by AI. \nAbout the Conference\nFor the third time at this scale\, the FDO2026 Conference will bring together leading experts from science and industry\, technologists\, data stewards/managers\, and policymakers engaged in advancing FAIR Digital Objects (FDOs). The conference will feature a mix of invited presentations\, panels\, posters and demonstrators. It will be associated with a day of tutorials and a newcomer session. \nThe first conference focused on discussing and finalising basic specifications\, while the second conference concentrated on practical implementations of the FDO concept (testbeds\, demonstrators). This third conference will explore the relevance of the FDOs for turning to a global data landscape characterised by the STAP Principles\, tackle the integration of FDOs with data use control technologies (dataspace technologies) and examine the challenges and showcase successful demonstrations of interoperability between different implementations. \nThe conference will take place at the facilities of the Technische Universität Wien. Video interaction options and video recordings of all sessions and the training sessions will be provided.

SUMMARY:Open Science Days 2026
DESCRIPTION:For the second year in a row\, four academic institutions in French-speaking Switzerland are joining forces to promote open science. The École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)\, the Haute école pédagogique du canton de Vaud (HEP Vaud)\, the HES-SO\, and the University of Lausanne (UNIL) invite you to Lausanne on September 7 and 8\, 2026\, for two intensive\, participatory days designed for the research community of our four institutions. \nThis edition is structured around four thematic strands – the compass\, the catalyst\, the crew and the spark – and formats designed to encourage real interaction: case studies\, peer learning\, workshops and panel discussions. Fewer top-down lectures\, more collaborative work. \nThe aim remains the same: to make research a public good accessible to all\, by providing everyone with the tools\, networks and inspiration they need to move forward.
