SUMMARY:Workshop on FAIRification Tools and Practices – “FAIRification and data packaging using RO-Crate”
DESCRIPTION:The workshop held on 5 December 2025 introduced participants to RO-Crate as a community-driven method for packaging data and metadata in line with FAIR principles. It provided an overview of how RO-Crate builds on Web standards such as JSON-LD and schema.org to support structured and interoperable research data. The session also illustrated its use across various scientific domains and examined its relevance for Climate-Adapt4EOSC. Discussions focused on developing climate-specific RO-Crate profiles linked to the project’s common metadata model (CDIF). The workshop concluded with a technical exchange on approaches for capturing FAIRified data from project use cases.

SUMMARY:Fair Digital Objects Conference
DESCRIPTION:FAIR Digital Objects (FDO) are autonomous information units that virtually bind all information in a machine-actionable way that is required to make data FAIR\, including various kinds of metadata and globally unique and resolvable persistent identifiers (PIDs). \nFDOs provide a conceptual and implementation framework to develop scalable cross-disciplinary capabilities\, deal with increasing data volumes and their inherent complexity\, build tools that help increase trust in data\, create mechanisms to efficiently operate in the domain of scientific assertions\, and promote data interoperability. In addition\, FDOs play a foundational role in implementing widely accepted trust frameworks\, which are characterised by the STAP principles (Sovereignty\, Transparency\, Accountability\, Persistence). These principles underpin large-scale data exploration supported by AI. \nAbout the Conference\nFor the third time at this scale\, the FDO2026 Conference will bring together leading experts from science and industry\, technologists\, data stewards/managers\, and policymakers engaged in advancing FAIR Digital Objects (FDOs). The conference will feature a mix of invited presentations\, panels\, posters and demonstrators. It will be associated with a day of tutorials and a newcomer session. \nThe first conference focused on discussing and finalising basic specifications\, while the second conference concentrated on practical implementations of the FDO concept (testbeds\, demonstrators). This third conference will explore the relevance of the FDOs for turning to a global data landscape characterised by the STAP Principles\, tackle the integration of FDOs with data use control technologies (dataspace technologies) and examine the challenges and showcase successful demonstrations of interoperability between different implementations. \nThe conference will take place at the facilities of the Technische Universität Wien. Video interaction options and video recordings of all sessions and the training sessions will be provided.

SUMMARY:[EOSC Academy] Applying the EOSC Federation Handbook\, Session 1
DESCRIPTION:This EOSC Academy online session will cover how to apply the EOSC Federation Handbook in practice\, using real-world examples from EOSC Node implementation. The course is designed to support organisations preparing to build or participate in EOSC Nodes\, as well as EOSC community members seeking a deeper understanding of Federation processes. \nThe EOSC Federation Handbook provides practical guidance on the organisational\, operational and technical structure of the EOSC Federation. It is designed for organisations that want to make resources available within EOSC\, either by creating and operating an EOSC Node or by onboarding resources into existing EOSC Nodes. The Handbook is a living reference document for the operation of the EOSC Federation and is updated through community consultation and iteration. \n\nEOSC Federation Handbook table of contents\nChapter 1 lays the foundations on which the rest of the Handbook is built. It includes the purpose of the EOSC Federation\, its primary users\, its main advantages and expected outcomes and success criteria. \nChapter 2 concerns the governance framework and legal structure. It describes the governance structure in its current state\, communication and relations with other initiatives\, and how to manage possible risks. Chapter 2 identifies governance roles for the Federation as well as for candidate Nodes. \nChapter 3 defines and describes the operational structure of the EOSC Federation. The requirements to become an EOSC Node\, technical or otherwise\, are outlined here. \nChapter 4 details the architecture of an EOSC Node\, how services can be set up and interlinked\, and specifically the requirements for federated capabilities and relationships with the EOSC EU Node. \nChapter 5 contains a description of the different categories of FAIR data and scientific resources that can be made available through the EOSC Federation. \nChapter 6 describes the process of enrolling an EOSC Node and onboarding a service in an existing EOSC Node.

SUMMARY:Open Science Days 2026
DESCRIPTION:For the second year in a row\, four academic institutions in French-speaking Switzerland are joining forces to promote open science. The École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL)\, the Haute école pédagogique du canton de Vaud (HEP Vaud)\, the HES-SO\, and the University of Lausanne (UNIL) invite you to Lausanne on September 7 and 8\, 2026\, for two intensive\, participatory days designed for the research community of our four institutions. \nThis edition is structured around four thematic strands – the compass\, the catalyst\, the crew and the spark – and formats designed to encourage real interaction: case studies\, peer learning\, workshops and panel discussions. Fewer top-down lectures\, more collaborative work. \nThe aim remains the same: to make research a public good accessible to all\, by providing everyone with the tools\, networks and inspiration they need to move forward.
