As part of the Climate-Adapt4EOSC project, the municipality of Aigaleo (Greece) is piloting a groundbreaking urban digital twin to strengthen climate resilience in socially vulnerable communities.
- Use Case Location: Egaleo Greece
- Service developed : Just-CURS (Digital Twins for Urban Climate Resilience)
- Objective: Co-develop high-resolution environmental models, socio-economic data, and citizen feedback to simulate local climate impacts
- Targets : municipalities and local actors
The pilot aims to:
✔️ Develop a Just Climate Resilience Indicator Framework using high-resolution data
✔️ Conduct urban climate vulnerability and biometeorological assessments at very high spatial resolution
✔️ Create a Digital Urban Climate Twin, capable of simulating “what-if” adaptation scenarios across multiple systems
The Egaleo pilot is designed as a living lab, integrating citizen feedback, FAIR data, and spatial modelling to inform adaptation decisions.
The digital twin of Egaleo is not only a local-scale innovation — it is designed to be scalable and replicable. Use Case 1 empowers local governments and communities to co-design tailored responses to current and future climate impacts.
